My clients, who had recently purchased this Listed house, did not feel the layout of the garden provided them with enough play space for their growing family or reflect their preference for a design with clean lines and a more contemporary feel. An existing L shaped pond was in need of refurbishment. My new design has opened up sight lines through the garden, enlarged the lawn and created new paths and neater planting areas. A large slate waterfall is now the focal point at the end of the garden. Beside it is a new play area with swings. The pond has been restored and a new hardwood deck constructed around it. There is a new dining terrace with feature sculpture on a wall. An area of planting across the back of the house has been replanted with a Box parterre, designed around existing large Box balls. Some existing walls and entrances were altered to create a pretty courtyard, complete with custom made wrought iron gates. During the build process a putting green with artificial turf was incorporated into the main lawn area. A comprehensive lighting scheme has been installed which brings the property and its new features to life at night. The garden is now a mixture of traditional and contemporary elements.
